Game Summary:

The Oilers played a great game this past Friday night as the battled a tough Brazoswood team to a hard fought 6-5 victory. The game went down the last play as centerfielder Erik Dixon made a great catch to save the lead and the win for the Oilers. The Oilers built a 4-1 lead on the hitting of Kelly Cross and Doug Orta and the defense of shortstop Michael Matthews and outfielder Kyle Cross. The Bucs came roaring back and scored 4 runs in the 6th inning on several Oiler miscues to take the lead 5-4. In the bottom of the sixth, the Oilers mounted a furious rally to score two runs and grab the win. Keith Freund led off the sixth inning with a single but was forced at second base on an attempted bunt by Kyle Cross. Quinn Guest then doubled down the left field line to set up runners at second and third base. The Bucs then intentionally walked Kelly Cross, who had already doubled off of the center field wall to bring Luke Gnader to the plate. Gnader hit the first pitch to left field for a single and the game winning RBI's. Shane Michna battled on the mound all night with an outstanding pitching performance that was saved by Kyle Cross as he came in to pitch with one out in the sixth inning and finished the game to pick up the win.
